Description The 12K – 15K hydraulic trailer brake assembly, part #31-B1212H-2, delivers reliable hydraulic stopping power for heavy-duty trailer applications. This right-hand (passenger side) brake fits 12,000 lb trailer axles and uses a 12.25″ x 5″ drum and shoe configuration. The duo-servo hydraulic design increases braking force as the shoes engage, making it a strong choice for equipment trailers, industrial trailers, oilfield trailers, and commercial service fleets that need confident braking performance. This brake assembly bolts directly to a 7-bolt brake flange and installs easily as a replacement for common Dexter hydraulic brake assemblies, as well as other major axle brands built around the same 12-1/4″ x 5″ hydraulic platform. The free-backing feature allows the trailer to roll backwards without dragging the shoes, which reduces wear and eliminates common backing-maneuver issues in yard, jobsite, and farm environments. Part #31-B1212H-2 includes pre-assembled components such as the hydraulic wheel cylinder, return springs, shoe set, and duo-servo hardware. Installers can quickly service an axle or rebuild a trailer without piecing together components. Customers who operate industrial fleets value this format because it reduces downtime and keeps high-capacity trailers running. To achieve maximum braking performance, properly break in (burnish) the new brakes. After installation, tow the trailer in a safe area and apply moderate braking cycles from a steady speed. Avoid aggressive stops during the first break-in period. These cycles seat the linings to the drum surface and ensure consistent hydraulic braking force under load.
